En annan bloggare i Sydafrika, Karen, som jag lärt känna under denna resa har skrivit om oss och föreläsningen. Riktgit trevligt skrivet… Hoppas ni orkar läsa, på engelska?
“The evening kicked off with Dr Eenfeldt (who I must say is a brilliant presenter) shocking us with his visual presentation of the obesity statistics in the USA over the last 28 years. It is argued that the obesity epidemic has increased annually since 1984 after Time magazine printed an article on the dangers of eating fat which they suggested would lead to high cholesterol and heart disease. This article was published without any scientific or clinically proven trails resulting in an international obesity expansion of epidemic proportions. Recent studies however have shown that there is absolutely zero scientific proof that a High Fat diet leads to cholesterol and the resultant cardiac problems. Also of interest and which highlights just how far South Africa has to go as a nation is when one compares ourselves to Sweden that has 25% of its population following a Low Carb, High Fat diet.
The glorious Monique Forslund whose passion lies with teaching children and families about the Low Carb, High Fat lifestyle was inspiring to say the least. She shared many of her lifestyle tips with us which can be found on her blog LifeZone one of the most surprising being her morning cup of Bullet Coffee made by blending coffee with 3 tablespoons of butter and one tablespoon of coconut oil. She is also the author of an amazing cookbook “LCHF for the whole family” which will be published in English and available in South Africa next year. I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy.
Prof Tim Noakes ended the evening with a groundbreaking lecture backed up by many scientific studies dispelling the myth that a diet low in fat is good for your health, in fact it became pretty clear that what we have been taught over the last couple of decades has proven to be nothing short of hazardous to our health. Prof Tim Noakes remains firm in his truth, readily sharing the wisdom that could set so many of us free. Yes Prof, we are indeed at a diet tipping point, not only in Cape Town but also South Africa. There is an even greater tsunami of energy to still be released. We are with you every step of the way.
I’ll end off with the thought that maybe South Africans need to follow the wisdom of Herbert Spencer who once stated: “one of the greatest failings of man is contempt prior to investigation…..”
